Today’s Encouragement is, “So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.” Hebrews 4:16 NLT
Need It Most –
Notice we can come boldly to God’s presence. Because He is gracious, good, forgiving, and loving, we can be confident that we will receive His mercy and undeserved favor (grace) at His throne and in His presence.
And His grace is our help – when we need it most. That is, when we are tempted to sin, when we have sinned, and when we are painfully aware of our need to be saved from our failures and wrong choices.
So, this isn’t a righteous, holy person who comes boldly to God on His throne, but it is you and me, not in our purest and best, but in our greatest need, when we need Him the most!
And what happens when we come in our great time of need to God? Does He tell us, “Shame on you! You brought this on yourself. You ought to be able to free yourself of this addiction. You are weak and stupid!” No! Absolutely Not! That isn’t God! Those are the words of the enemy of our souls, the accuser!
Our God is Love and gracious and merciful! He forgives and forgets. He says to us, “Come to me, and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28a).
Thank You, God, that we can come to You boldly, not in fearful trembling, but in confident assurance that we will receive Your Love, Mercy, Grace, and Strength to help us… even at our weakest moments, even when – we need it most!
