Today’s Encouragement is, “But they delight in the law of the LORD, meditating on it day and night. They are like trees planted along the riverbank, bearing fruit each season. Their leaves never wither, and they prosper in all they do.” Psalm 1:2-3 NLT
Day and Night –
This psalm describes a person who desires to follow the Lord and who is very blessed as a result.
When this was written, the “law of the Lord” referred to the first five books of the Bible, Genesis through Deuteronomy. Today’s equivalent is the entire Bible, often described as the Word of God. So, another way of saying it is, “They delight in the Word of God, thinking about it day and night.”
God’s Word is a rich treasury! It is full of Truth! It contains Godly wisdom, inspiration, encouragement, knowledge, hope, and the message of Salvation through Christ for anyone who will believe!
A daily meditation like this devotional is a good way to learn some of the key truths and to meditate, if only for a few moments, on the Word. But this passage suggests a constant flow of thought centered on the message of the Bible!
And Jesus is the Message. From Genesis to Revelation, Jesus is the central figure of each book, and this song provides a concise description of this message.
John reveals Jesus as the Word of God. The Bible isn’t Jesus, but it is a comprehensive revelation of Him.
Thank You, Father, that as we choose to consciously think about Jesus, day and night, we become “like trees planted along the riverbank, bearing fruit each season. Their leaves never wither, and they prosper in all they do.”
