Today’s Encouragement is, “Now may our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, who loved us and by his grace gave us eternal comfort and a wonderful hope, comfort you and strengthen you in every good thing you do and say.” 2 Thessalonians 2:16-17 NLT
In every good thing –
Did you catch that? He prayed that Jesus would comfort and strengthen us – in every good thing we do and say!
In the good things that we do and say… we are comforted and strengthened?
We all realize that Jesus is our Shepherd, he provides us with all we need, and He comforts us. And we all know that God comforts and strengthens His people; He is our source of every good gift.
But this prayer states that we are being comforted and strengthened in, through, and by all the good things we do and say! It seems that, as we act and speak in obedience to God, in Good things, then God works in us to comfort and strengthen us!
At times, His comfort and strength come before we act and speak; at times, it is afterwards, but it can also come while we obediently live out and say the Good things that God desires. Our good actions and words, guided by Faith, will not only bless others but will also provide comfort and strength to us.
God will not be put into a box. He is infinitely creative. He works in many different ways and in mysterious, infinitely creative ways.
Thank You, Father, for the many wonderful ways You work in us. Help us to do and speak the Good things that You guide us to! And thank You for comforting and strengthening us as we obey.
