Make Your Demands Again

Today’s Encouragement is, “Then the LORD said to Moses, ‘Return to Pharaoh and make your demands again. I have made him and his officials stubborn so I can display my miraculous signs among them.’” Exodus 10:1 NLT

Make Your Demands Again –

Doesn’t it seem strange?  God has ultimate power and authority over everyone and everything, including the Egyptian king.  He clearly states, “I have made him… stubborn.”   Then, throughout nine devastating plagues, Pharaoh continued to refuse to submit to God adamantly.

But remember, my friend, God did this!  He decided to free His people, to harden Pharaoh’s heart, to devastate Egypt, and ultimately to destroy Pharaoh and his entire army.  Can you imagine the devastation of Egypt? The whole workforce is gone; the crops were destroyed, and finally, the firstborn children, people, and animals all died in one night!

A few thoughts:

God is patient.  Ten devastating plagues rocked the Egyptian world before God ultimately set His people free.  Israel saw each one in amazement!

God is persistent.  He sent Moses to confront and demand that Pharaoh release the people ten different times.  (Imagine Moses’ thoughts!)

God is omnipotent. The ten plagues demonstrate His incredible and unlimited power.

God is merciful. Israel was spared from suffering the plagues that tormented their Egyptian masters.

God is brilliant (we sometimes miss this point).  God used the tenth and final plague to institute the world-changing, supernatural, and eternally significant event of Passover, and thousands of years later, Jesus became the perfect and final Passover Lamb!

Thank You, Father, for the astounding truths in Your Word.  For always acting, directing, and leading your sheep in the right path.  You are so very good to us, even when we don’t recognize it.

Do It Again
