Today’s Encouragement is, “Then Moses went back to the LORD and protested, ‘Why have you brought all this trouble on your own people, Lord? Why did you send me? Ever since I came to Pharaoh as your spokesman, he has been even more brutal to your people. And you have done nothing to rescue them!’” Exodus 5:22-23 NLT
You Have Done Nothing –
Like Moses, when we act in obedience to God, we expect everything to get better! But in truth, things often get worse before they get better. We want to blame God, like Moses, “I’m doing my best to obey You, and nothing but more trouble has resulted!”
My friend, is it possible that – God is more interested in our character than our comfort?
We all want and strive for our comfort! But God recognizes that our character, our individual level of faith, is infinitely more important than just our comfort! So, He allows our experiences to guide and mold us, even though they are often very uncomfortable, disturbing, or even painful!
Certainly, the Egyptian’s slaves, the entire nation of Israel, estimated at well over 1.5 million people, suffered greatly before Moses came to set them free, and then even worse suffering after he began doing what God had instructed! But then, He miraculously delivered them!
Is it possible that – When we obey God, our troubles might increase for a time. This is a test of our faith. We are always unwise to expect immediate results; God isn’t subject to our clock or calendar!
Father, help us to pray and obey with patience, even when things become more difficult for a time. We choose to trust and obey You.
