He Leads Me

Today’s Encouragement is, “He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.” Psalm 23:3b ESV

He Leads Me –

We often get this critical point wrong.

We ask God to help us do what we want to do, to support our plans, projects, and purposes.  We ask for blessings for our needs and desires, for His unlimited power to work at our direction.  He smiles patiently.

He understands we aren’t yet at a point of complete trust —not yet —and He waits patiently for us to mature into total dependency on Him. But still, when we are relating to Him, praying, and communicating, this is very, very good!  But it is just a bit short of the best relationship. Dependence!

Jesus taught us to come to God as children (Mark 10:15) and to follow Him as sheep follow a shepherd. “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.” John 10:27 ESV

Rather than asking or expecting God to come into our plans, we have the incredible opportunity to follow Him in His plans! He leads us!  When we are willing and recognize that His will and plans are infinitely better and higher than ours (Isaiah 55:8-9), then we surrender to His Will, direction, and leadership.  And He Leads and we follow Him!

We acknowledge that He is the Good Shepherd and we are the sheep who follow Him, who look to Him for everything and every direction!

Thank You, Lord, that You lead us. Now, today, You lead us in the right paths.  Because You are good and You love us.  Help us to recognize and embrace our total dependence on You.

I Will Follow
