He Restores

Today’s Encouragement is, “He restores my soul.” Psalm 23:3a ESV

He Restores –

Pause. Consider.

God restores our soul.

Other translations read:

“He renews my strength.” NLT

“He refreshes and restores my soul (life)” AMP

“you let me catch my breath” MSG

We know that our bodies need rest, and to an extent, we recognize also that our minds need to rest.  Here we learn that God can and will restore our souls.

Webster’s defines “soul” as “the immaterial essence, animating principle, or actuating cause of an individual life.”

The word soul is used in the Bible as a person, a life, and desire, even appetite.

So, we could interpret this to mean that God restores, rejuvenates, and reinvigorates our entire lives.  Not only our body and mind, but everything that we are!

Perhaps you’ve experienced this, or know someone who has, someone who has suddenly or gradually emerged as if from a dazed state into a new existence.  Sounds a lot like rebirth, doesn’t it!

“This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!” 2 Corinthians 5:17 NLT

[Jesus said,] “Come to me… and I will give you rest… and you will find rest for your souls.” Matthew 11:28a, 29b ESV

Father, we each desperately need and desire You to restore our souls! We often become dry, tired, and exhausted by this life. Thank You for the privilege and opportunity to come to You for rest and restoration!
