Has Forgiven You –
Do you know this, believe it, and rest in it? God, through Christ, has forgiven you!
He has already! It is a fait accompli!
We don’t earn His forgiveness; no one but Jesus ever could! Only Jesus, and His perfect sacrifice, could transform us from lost in sin to Forgiven. We are Free! “So if the Son sets you free, you are truly free.” John 8:36 NLT
And here is another powerful truth: “Christ suffered for our sins once for all time” 1 Peter 3:18a. Once-for-all time!
Many years ago, I was often praying, thinking it was a Holy prayer, “Lord, forgive me for my sins.” One day, He gently spoke, “My son, I already have.” In those few words, I finally and fully realized that His mercy, grace, forgiveness, and love were already, now, mine, in full! I had been asking, pleading, praying for His forgiveness, but it is a blessing He has already given!
As a result, we can thank God daily for all the blessings that we already have, rather than continually asking Him for more. Of course, we can ask Him and pray regularly for our needs, but remember to also focus on sincere gratitude for all He has already done, given, and provided.
Father, help us all to recognize what You have done, already, and what Christ has done, already, for us. That we are once for all forgiven, set free, and made right with You by Jesus.
