Dividing Wall

Today’s Encouragement is, “For he himself is our peace, who has made us both one and has broken down in his flesh the dividing wall of hostility.” Ephesians 2:14 ESV

Dividing Wall –

Our world is constantly divided. We always seem to divide ourselves (our decision, our choice) by race, politics, religion, region, financial status, social status, and innumerable other factors.  We seem to have a need to isolate and differentiate ourselves from others.  Why?

Is it possible that we want to be better than ’them’? We have erected ‘dividing walls’ of numerous types in order to distinguish ourselves from ’them’!

This passage explains that Jesus Himself is our Peace, and He has already broken down, removed, and destroyed the dividing wall, the hostile division between the people of Israel and everyone else (referred to as gentiles in the Bible).

Israel was God’s chosen people, but Jesus changed that!  Now, anyone who believes in and follows Christ is His chosen one!  Regardless of nationality, heritage, race, or any other dividing line!

There is one division that remains, but only this one: those who choose to believe in Jesus and those who do not.

Father God, in Your wisdom, You created each of us to be individuals, part of families, locations, races, and nationalities. We often fight to remain so.  And yet, You offer us complete peace and perfect unity through faith in Jesus. Help us accept and embrace this peace and unity.
