Today’s Encouragement is, [Jesus said] “They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world.” John 17:16 ESV
Just as I am –
Just as Jesus was and still is, all of us who believe in Him, who follow, trust, and worship Him, are not of the world. Just like Jesus is not of this world, we are so deeply and completely identified with Him, so covered by, and filled with Him, that we are no longer of the world!
We are still here in this world, which Jesus states clearly in v 11, but just like Jesus, we are not OF this world. We are OF the Kingdom of God. Already, now, because of our faith in Him, we are new creations (2 Corinthians 5:17) with new identities and a new home!
And not only that! We are also one with Jesus!
“Anyone who eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me, and I in him.” John 6:56
“I [Jesus] pray that they will all be one, just as you and I are one—as you are in me, Father, and I am in you.” John 17:21
We are so identified with Jesus that God loves us as much as He loves Jesus!
“I am in them and you are in me. May they experience such perfect unity that the world will know that you sent me and that you love them as much as you love me.” John 17:23b
Father, we confess we don’t understand completely the miraculous, extraordinary, recreated lives that You have given us. Help us to accept by faith that which our minds can’t comprehend. Your grace, goodness, and kindness to us are overwhelming. Help us to truly believe that – I am who You say I am.
