Today’s Encouragement is, “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” Psalm 119:105 ESV
A Lamp –
An ancient lamp provided a light that shone only a few feet in any direction. It was not a high-beam flashlight! This light allowed you to take a few steps on your path, and then it spread, enabling you to walk slowly and deliberately in the light, relying on its light for the next steps.
Jesus said, I am the Light! (John 8:12) And Jesus lights our way, just as God’s written word lights our way. We don’t see miles ahead of us, only the next step or two.
Jesus told us to pray for our daily bread (Luke 11:3), not for a week or a year. Bread for one day; light for one step. Because – He wants us to remain close, in an intimate relationship with Him, to trust Him for everything, food, light, for tomorrow, and our next steps. “For we walk by Faith, not by sight.” (2 Corinthians 5:7)
His Word is our light, showing us the path, one step at a time. We can store it up in our hearts. (Psalm 119:11) Here’s a great word of encouragement to store in your heart, to memorize: “Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need and thank him for all he has done.” Philippians 4:6 NLT
Father God, help us to remember Your Truth, Your Word, to store it in our hearts, and to walk, one step, one day at a time in faith, in Your Light.
Thy Word
