Today’s Encouragement is, “But letting the Spirit control your mind leads to life and peace.” Romans 8:6b NLT
Letting The Spirit Control –
I have come to realize that I want to know God’s will so that I can be in control of my mind and my life.
As if I were asking Him, “Ok God, what’s the plan here?” Then He describes it to me, and I respond, “Ok, I got it. I’ll take it from here!” as if I would have a clue how to implement His plan!
Instead of this “inspired mission-driven approach,” I believe God is saying in this verse, “If you let Me, I will guide you by My Spirit, each day, on My pathways, along My journey through this life. And you will seek my face, my will, by listening to My Spirit. And I will show you the next step to take. This road is your utter dependence upon Me, for each step of faith. Listen to Me. Follow Me. Surrender to Me. And I will never leave you nor forsake you.” (Hebrews 13:5)
Instead of showing us the big plan He has, mapping out the steps, discussing strategy, and then handing over the responsibility and control to us, God Himself, by His Spirit dwelling within us, retains Control (as Let Him) and He directs our lives, our next steps.
Just at the right moment, He provides us with the necessary information, like our daily bread, to take the next step. All controlled by His Spirit.
Father God, help us to choose to “Let the Spirit control” rather than retaining control of our lives. Help us to surrender and Let You be God!
I Surrender
