Today’s Encouragement is, “Now he is far above any ruler or authority or power or leader or anything else-not only in this world but also in the world to come. God has put all things under the authority of Christ and has made him head over all things for the benefit of the church.” Ephesians 1:21-22 NLT
The Authority of Christ –
Notice the language used – Jesus is Far Above – everything and everyone!
He is the head of all things! The Church, certainly, but His authority extends far beyond the four walls, and beyond the boundaries of time, nature, nations, and all that is seen and unseen. Far beyond! Far above! Everything!
And He now lives within us! (John 17:26) He is not subject to our direction (He is far above all, including us), but He is our Friend (John 15:15), Master, and Lord. He hears our every prayer (every word and thought, because He is ever-present within us).
And because He is within us, His infinite power over everything is very close at hand! We don’t wield any power, but He does!
Also, “Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think.” Ephesians 3:20
This explains why, “I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength.” Philippians 4:13
His power – within us – to do infinitely more than we can ask or think!
Father God, help us not to ignore, neglect, or underestimate Your power and authority, which is at work within us! It is not ours, and not subject to our flawed, imperfect, human will, but it is Your power! You have unlimited authority and still You choose to live within Your people.
