Today’s Encouragement is, “and it [Love] keeps no record of being wronged.” 1 Corinthians 13:5b
Keeps No Record –
In this 13th chapter, we are given an amazing, detailed assessment of the character of Love, and God is Love, so this is His character! He keeps no record of being wronged!
This is God’s nature! He forgives us for every wrong we have ever done and will do! We who believe in Jesus and trust Him to save us are not only forgiven, but there is no record of our sin! No memory of it, anywhere! Except sadly in our own minds. And my friend, since God has chosen to erase it because of the sacrifice of Jesus, we can too! We gain nothing by remembering our sinful lives; in fact, by doing so, we speak, fight, and rebel against (even deny?) the purification which Jesus bought for us at such a great price.
We gain nothing by remembering our sin! And in our relationships with others, this truth remains! Love keeps no record! Bringing up the wrongs of the past is an excellent way to fight dirty, to wound each other, and keep the pain alive! And destruction is the result!
God forgives and forgets; There is no record of our wrongs. We are Free!
Father, help us to accept Your perfect Grace, complete forgiveness, and then, as we recognize and experience Your Love, to extend Your Love, forgiving and forgetting every wrong done to us. Your Love for us is perfect.
