These Two Commandments

Today’s Encouragement is, “Jesus replied, You must love the LORD your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. A second is equally important: Love your neighbor as yourself. The entire law and all the demands of the prophets are based on these two commandments.” Matthew 22:37-40 NLT

These Two Commandments –

I admit it; I don’t like being told what to do and not do.  (Pretty sure that’s my pride.)

Most of us are like that.  But if we pause and consider that the very wisdom of God is freely given to us in this single, clear, concise, and complete statement, then we might realize what an amazing gift we have received!

Jesus did that for us; He put everything together, summed up “all the demands” of the law and the prophets, all of the Old Testament requirements for pleasing God!

Love God and people.

Can it really be that simple?  Jesus clearly thinks so!

How we Love God and people, and doing it consistently and well, is the challenge! There are many ways we can Love God by trusting Him, praising, honoring, obeying, listening to, relating to, learning from, and serving Him.

We love others when we – do the same things for them!

No one does anything perfectly! But our efforts, focus, intention, energy, and purpose are the keys; the reasons why we do what we do! And the reason, the purpose is…

Love God and people.

Father, we confess we cannot Love You or others without Your Love flowing into and out of our lives.  Thank You for Your Love.  Help us to Love You and others.

How Great Is The Love
