Today’s Encouragement is, “We know how much God loves us, and we have put our trust in his love. God is love, and all who live in love live in God, and God lives in them.” 1 John 4:16 NLT
God is Love –
We know how much God loves us; John 3:16 tells us He loves the whole world! This verse goes beyond describing what He does…to tell us Who He is. He IS love! It’s His character, His Nature, the essence of His being!
“And all who live in love live in God.” Is it possible that we cannot really have love for any other person, without first experiencing God in some way? (Perhaps this is why Love is our greatest need?). Of course, as we humans always do, we contaminate love, bring it down to our basest level. This human love is self-centered; I get what I need and so I love the person giving it to me. But God isn’t brought down; His Perfect Love is self-less; Jesus remains as the perfect example of God’s Love.
It is only when God lives in us (see verse) that we have His Love within us and can then share His Love with others.
Without His Love, we have nothing worthwhile to share with anyone else.
Lord God, we have put our trust in Your Love. Help us to be filled with Your Love, so that we can Love You and Love others.
