Today’s Encouragement is, “So you should earnestly desire the most helpful gifts. But now let me show you a way of life that is best of all.” 1 Corinthians 12:31 NLT
Best Of All –
Wait, a way of life that is the best of all? Compared to what? In the preceding verses, he describes the spiritual gifts of the church, including healing, teaching, preaching, and even performing miracles. Then he says, there is a way of life that is better than all of these! “The greatest of these is Love!” (1 Corinthians 13:13)
This Love isn’t starry-eyed puppy love, nor is it our love of ice cream, nor is it our love for our family or any other human, physical love.
God’s Love (capitalized) is infinitely beyond human love. It is a gift from God given to everyone who trusts in Jesus.
[This Love cannot be described in a short message, so we will continue to focus on it for a good while. It’s so important to grasp this spiritual truth, and the concept is so vast, we don’t want to miss any aspect.]
Now, please don’t miss the example of God’s Love provided in this all-too-familiar verse, “For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16 NLT
“This is how God Loved the world!” This is the perfect example of Love. God gave us Jesus. Because He Loves the world.
And this Love – God’s Love – is the Best way of life!
Thank You, Father, for Your Perfect Love, for Jesus, and for allowing us to experience Your Love in our lives as well.
How He Loves us
