Today’s Encouragement is, “We were given this hope when we were saved. (If we already have something, we don’t need to hope for it. But if we look forward to something we don’t yet have, we must wait patiently and confidently.” Romans 8:24-25 NLT
Given This Hope –
Our Hope is a gift from God. We have placed our Hope in Him for His Grace and Mercy. We have moved from being hopeless and lost in our own ways to being hopeful, choosing to believe that Jesus saves us.
Hope is described here as looking forward to something we don’t yet have. If we already had what we hope for, we wouldn’t need to hope for it nor have faith that it was real. So we now, in Hope must wait! And our waiting is patient and confident. We will patiently wait in Hope, confident that God will do everything He has promised!
That promise is explained in v 23, “for we long for our bodies to be released from sin and suffering.” And “when God will give us our full rights as his adopted children!”
We have this Hope!
It is very easy to become discouraged in this life. Pain, sorrow, illness, death, addictions, depression, there’s a myriad of sorrows; we all encounter them to one degree or another. But it is precisely this painful reality that makes our Faith, our Hope, our choice to Believe in Jesus, the distinguishing, transformative, and exceptional factor in our lives!
“We were given this Hope!” Even while these realities still surround us.
Thank You, Father, for the Hope that You have already given us! Please strengthen our Hope and help us choose to continue to place all our Hope in You!
