Today’s Encouragement is, “The law of Moses was unable to save us because of the weakness of our sinful nature. So God did what the law could not do. He sent his own Son in a body like the bodies we sinners have. And in that body God declared an end to sin’s control over us by giving his Son as a sacrifice for our sins.” Romans 8:3 NLT
An End To Sin’s Control –
In Jesus and through Him, God declared an end to sin’s control over us.
This was God’s plan, and He gave us Jesus to set us free! Did Jesus fail? In any way? No! Therefore, my friend sin doesn’t have control over us!
Notice the introduction, the Law was unable to save us, because our sinful nature is inherently weak. We were not, still are not, strong enough to obey God’s Law. So, God made a new way, a new covenant, that by faith in Christ, we are set free from sin because of the perfect sacrifice of Jesus.
We might respond, “But why am I still tempted to sin, why do I struggle so much with certain sins, if it doesn’t have control of me?”
Remember Jesus in the wilderness? He was tempted! But sin didn’t have control of Him. To each temptation, Jesus responded with scripture, God’s Truth.
The struggle with sin is inevitable, the control, the power (v2) which sin has, however, is broken and ended. Not by our willpower, good deeds, or obedience to the Law, our sinful nature is too weak for us to save us! Only Jesus can save us! And He has!
Thank You, our Father, for giving Your Son to end sin’s control and set us free!
Only Jesus Could
