Today’s Encouragement is, “But when you pray, go away by yourself, shut the door behind you, and pray to your Father in private. Then your Father, who sees everything, will reward you.” Matthew 6:6 NLT
In Private –
When you pray –
We can pray anytime, anywhere, about anything, and everything. God is unlimited and He loves us, and He hears, sees, and knows everything, especially everything about us because we are His dearly loved and chosen children!
Go away by yourself –
Jesus often retreated from the crowds, even from His disciples, to go and pray.
Shut the door behind you –
To further insulate and isolate yourself from the world, shut the door, close out the noise, distractions, and others looking in. Get alone with God.
And pray to your Father –
Recognize that we pray to God the Father. He is Our Perfect Father, who loves, protects, provides, teaches, encourages, and supports us.
In private –
Door closed, alone, just the two of us.
Then, as we communicate with God in private…
God will reward you – What? Most of us have been taught that God loves us and takes care of us, giving us what we need… but what is this about a reward? These are Jesus’ words, not mine!
God will reward us for time, attention, emotion, and everything we invest in prayer… God sees! And He rewards!
Thank You, Father, for the privilege we have to pray, especially in private, where You alone see and hear. Help us to come to this private prayer place often, and in addition to prayer, to just be with You.
