Today’s Encouragement is, “This is real love-not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as a sacrifice to take away our sins. Dear friends, since God loved us that much, we surely ought to love each other.”1 John 4:10-11 NLT
Real Love –
First, God loved us. “We love each other because he loved us first.”1 John 4:19 NLT
Then, because we are loved by God, we have received and accepted His Love, we can now love each other with the Love we have received from Him.
This means that we can love the unloved, unlovable, and unlovely. Because God’s Love has filled us (Romans 5:5), we can overflow His Love to others. His Love came to us because of His grace and His choosing. Not because we were worthy, lovely, or lovable.
God’s Love within our hearts enables us to Love Him and then to Love others. First, he has filled us with Real Love because he loves us, so that now we can love others with the Real Love we have received. God’s Real Love is not like our human love, which is so often self-centered and comes and goes with our emotions. God’s Real Love never fades; it is patient, kind, and enduring. (1 Corinthians 13:4-7) And it will last forever. (1 Corinthians 13:13)
“For we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love.” Romans 5:5b
Father, we thank You for filling us with Your Real Love! Help us to share it!
