Today’s Encouragement is, “How long must I struggle with anguish in my soul, with sorrow in my heart every day? How long will my enemy have the upper hand?” Psalm 13:2 NLT
How Long –
Perhaps you need His rescue, right now, or you have been, or will be at some point.
My friend, we all experience the many and varied pains of this life. Suffering that we don’t see how we can bear.
For the times of such dark suffering, we have the light of His Word.
-We aren’t alone. The psalm of David reveals his suffering, “Where are you? You’ve forgotten me!” Others suffer as much or more, even those who are very close to God.
-Jesus told us this would happen. “I told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth, you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.” John 16:33 NLT
-We suffer for a little while. In comparison to our earthly life, and especially compared to our eternity with Him, this present suffering is truly only for a little while. “So after you have suffered a little while, he will restore, support, and strengthen you, and he will place you on a firm foundation.” 1 Peter 5:10b NLT
-Finally, in the ending verse of today’s psalm, David, in the depths of his suffering, still proclaims his Faith in God’s unfailing Love. “But I trust in your unfailing love.” Psalm 13:5a NLT
Father, we don’t understand suffering; we don’t like it! But we will still choose to trust in You and Your steadfast Love. Help us, Lord. You are our Hope.
