Today’s Encouragement is, “Then Jesus said, ‘Let’s go off by ourselves to a quiet place and rest awhile.’ He said this because there were so many people coming and going that Jesus and his apostles didn’t even have time to eat.” Mark 6:31 NLT
Rest Awhile –
Jesus was busy. He was often surrounded by people with needs, asking Him for healing, questions about faith, who He was, and some even trying to trap Him in one way or another. He was busy!
His disciples were also busy, and today, we are busy too!
Jesus and His disciples were busy doing God’s will, carrying out the Mission of preaching and teaching the Gospel of God’s Love and Grace, Hope and Forgiveness, His Strength, and His Power! What are you and I busy doing?
Regardless of the type of busy-ness we may be occupied with, at times, we too need to ‘go off by ourselves to a quiet place and rest awhile’ with Jesus.
Two thoughts for the busy believer:
What are we busy doing? Remember Mary and Martha. Martha was busy preparing her home and a meal for Jesus, while Mary was busy’ sitting at His feet, absorbing His every word.
And my friend, even Jesus and His disciples, needed a break, a time to get away and rest.
Father, help us to rest in You, to rest with You. And then return, refreshed and renewed to what You’ve called us, to serve You.
