Today’s Encouragement is, “For the wisdom of this world is foolishness to God. As the Scriptures say, ‘He traps the wise in the snare of their own cleverness.’” 1 Corinthians 3:19 NLT
Wisdom of This World –
Perhaps we should hold a global contest for “The Wisest.” We’d try to find the smartest, wisest, and most logical person alive today. We could also include the wise people who have passed away, but all we would have of them would be their writings and any accounts written about them.
So, we would determine “The Wisest” person. (Who would you trust to make this decision for you, a panel of really wise people? What process would they use? Would there be 100% agreement on this panel?) We then ask “The Wisest” for the Absolute Truth. Like what caused the Earth to exist? What is the purpose and meaning of life in the universe? We could develop a long list of questions to put to “The Wisest.”
And then, we would all agree to accept and follow the teachings of this “Wisest” person!
Although some would choose to follow The Wisest, we all recognize that human nature will prevail, and many will refuse to follow, preferring their own wisdom, knowledge, and logical processes to any other.
And then, my friend, we’re right back where we began!
Father, thank You that You have already provided “The Wisest” for us in Jesus Christ. Every word He spoke was Truth and Wisdom. He was and still is, The Truth! Help us choose to trust Jesus and follow Him alone.
