Today’s Encouragement is, “Such love has no fear, because perfect love expels all fear. If we are afraid, it is for fear of punishment, and this shows that we have not fully experienced his perfect love. We love each other because he loved us first.” 1 John 4:18-19 NLT
Perfect Love –
Is there any perfect Love? Certainly there is, and it can only exist from God. He is perfect, and His Love for His chosen, adopted sons and daughters is Perfect.
Jesus’ life, death, burial, and resurrection have paid the price for our cleansing salvation. Nothing else is required! Jesus truly paid it all.
So we who follow Him, trust in Him as our Lord, are restored to a perfect relationship with God. As pure as God’s relationship with Jesus, or with Adam, before the fall.
Notice that Adam was afraid of God after he had sinned. Before that, he enjoyed a sweet fellowship with God. (Ref)
Those who choose a life of sin should certainly fear God, for they are sowing the seeds of their own punishment! But those of us who choose to follow Christ (and none of us does so perfectly!) have moved from a place of separation, punishment, and judgment into God’s family and His Love, forgiveness, and acceptance!
Those who live in rebellion against God, consciously or unconsciously, have every reason to fear God! But, those of us who are adopted into His family have no reason to fear Him.
Thank You, Father, for Your Perfect Love for us! Thank You that Your Perfect Love eliminates all fear!
