Today’s Encouragement is, “Jesus told him, ‘I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.’” John 14:6 NLT
The Truth –
“Pilate said, ‘So you are a king?’ Jesus responded, ‘You say I am a king. Actually, I was born and came into the world to testify to the truth. All who love the truth recognize that what I say is true.’ ‘What is truth?’ Pilate asked.” John 18:37-38a NLT
It seems odd that so many people today claim to be searching for the Truth.
There are only a few claims to the Truth; the most common today is the idea that each person must ‘find their own truth.’ Or even ‘create their own truth.’ Jesus is One who proclaimed Himself to be The Truth! As CS Lewis said, He was either a liar, a lunatic, or the Lord that He said He was.
In John 18, above, Pilate had a face-to-face discussion with The Truth, and still couldn’t see it, recognize it, or accept it.
Many people who encountered Jesus, likewise, couldn’t ’see’ His identity as The Truth, the Son of God.
Is it possible that – only those who are chosen – can recognize Jesus as The Truth and God’s Son? “For many are called, but few are chosen.” Matthew 22:14 NLT
Jesus called many to follow Him, yet only a few did. The same occurs every day. It might seem sad, even tragic, to those of us who do believe. Yet, God graciously allows each person to choose their path.
Thank You, Father, for sending us The Truth in Jesus. Help us to recognize Him for all He is, and to look no further!
