Today’s Encouragement is, “But he answered, It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.'” Matthew 4:4 ESV
By Every Word –
We live by every word from God; it is our spiritual food. Bread only nourishes the body; God’s Word nourishes our hearts and spirits!
The Word of God is rich, overflowing with substance, meaning, and profound truth! This is our spiritual food!
And each word, concept, or idea is powerfully inspired to provide us with this nourishment!
As an example, consider this passage: “Jesus told him, ‘I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.’” John 14:6-7 NLT
I am the Way – He’s the Way to Eternal Life, to God, to Peace, to Wisdom
The Truth – He teaches us, reveals, and gives us pure Truth… in every word He speaks.
And the Life – He is the source of true life, meaningful and everlasting. He IS all these things and more!
This ‘word’ from Jesus, who is the bread of life (John 6:35), doesn’t end with these astounding statements. He continues, “No one can come to the Father except through me.” Another life-giving truth, provided by God’s word!
And this is just one of God’s words to us! This is our food, the bread that nourishes our hearts and keeps us alive spiritually!
Thank You, Father, for providing this spiritual food to satisfy the spiritual hunger You have created within us. Help us to look only to You, to every word You speak, for the nourishment which our souls so desperately need!
