Today’s Encouragement is, “’My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts,’ says the LORD. ‘And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine. For just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so my ways are higher than your ways and my thoughts higher than your thoughts.’” Isaiah 55:8-9 NLT
My Ways are Higher –
God’s Ways, His Thoughts, His attributes, nature, and characteristics are similar to, yet very much unlike, our own. We were created in His image (Genesis 1:27), so we reflect Him, but we do so imperfectly and inadequately. It is a huge mistake to think that God’s ways are like our ways.
Because He is perfect in every aspect, He doesn’t have emotions like we do. We have emotions similar to His, but His are immensely higher than ours! We know, for example, that His Love is immeasurably greater than our human capacity for Love. Jesus is the perfect demonstration of His immeasurable Love!
Similarly, His anger is perfect. It is never selfish or petty, always righteous. We might think, God is mad at me because I sinned. But my friend, He isn’t surprised, nor is He disappointed, or disgusted with us! Because He knows us! His love causes Him to be patient with us. (2 Peter 3:9)
God is our loving Father. Of course, He wants us to live free from sin, but because He knows us perfectly, He knows we aren’t capable of living sinlessly. So, He created the perfect pathway to peace through our faith in Jesus.
We don’t see it as logical or reasonable because… His way (His Love) is higher than ours, immeasurably higher!
Father, we thank You for making the Way for us, Your Way, the Jesus Way.
