Today’s Encouragement is, [Jesus said,] “But you are to be perfect, even as your Father in heaven is perfect.” Matthew 5:48 NLT
Be Perfect –
Every single thing about us is imperfect. We are incapable of doing anything good; we are sinful creatures from birth. God saw our hopeless plight and provided the Perfect solution for us, one that cost Him greatly, but which would stand for all eternity as the solution to our lost and hopeless souls.
Jesus.
And my friend, nothing we can do (none of our imperfections) will change the perfect solution He provides for us. We have to trust in Him and His work on our behalf, and we are saved from ourselves. And our failing, floundering efforts to “be good,” “do better,” “straighten out our life,” none of these well-intentioned efforts by humans can save us. They might make us feel better for a while, but our eternal standing before God is only changed by the Blood of Jesus!
And His work, His salvation, is absolutely perfect. Every command, instruction, and direction from God through His Word is perfectly and completely accomplished for us by faith in Christ. He came to fulfill all the commandments of God for us! (Matthew 5:17)
We want to add something, “but”, “and”, “or” – however, God said it is finished, the work of Jesus, our salvation, our perfection, our righteousness is completed by the cross!
Thank You. Father, for accomplishing for us – everything! You even provided us with Faith to believe, so that we could be saved through Christ! Help us be truly grateful, and to recognize the enormity of the Gift of Grace through Jesus.
