Made Perfect –
Jesus made us perfect, forever. Argue with it, add your ifs, ands, or buts, yet still – God’s word remains eternally true.
Jesus perfects our every flaw, sin, imperfection, failure, and inadequacy. We cannot improve upon His perfection! He can and will continue to transform us (Romans 12:2) into His likeness, to become more like Him (1 John 4:17). However, nothing we will ever do will make us more acceptable, more loved, more secure with God than Jesus’ perfection!
We often think, “I need to spend more time in prayer, I need to quit this or that bad habit, I need to grow closer to God,” or a million other things we think we need to do. Of course, these are all good improvements that God can lead us to and through, but please understand, these changes are for us and those around us, not for God!
His love for us is contingent on only one thing: our trust in Jesus as Lord and Savior! Not our performance in any capacity.
If we never: Lose the weight, quit the habit, pray an hour each day, read the Bible through every year, learn to hear His voice… even though all these are very good things… they do not make us any more or less acceptable to God! Only Jesus’ blood can do that! And we cannot improve, enhance, or add to what He has already done for us!
Father, again, we thank You for the wonderful gift of righteousness through faith in Jesus. Only You could provide this, and Only Jesus could make this reality. We are grateful.
