Today’s Encouragement is, “Jesus replied, ‘If you only knew the gift God has for you and who you are speaking to, you would ask me, and I would give you living water.’”John 4:10 NLT
Living Water –
Reread it carefully, slowly, and grasp the power of Jesus’ words…
If you (only) knew,
a) the gift God has for you, and
b) who I am (Jesus) then,
c) you would ask me, and
d) I would give you living water!
Jesus often spoke in this type of if-then, conditional statements.
And here He does again. It’s astounding that He offers this woman His Living Water. All she had to do was recognize Him and ask Him.
Is it possible, my friend, that this is still true? We, too, can be filled with this spring of His Living Water (v14), filling our hearts and lives to overflowing, and leading us to Eternal Life!
Was Jesus only using a metaphor to make His point?
I don’t think so, do you?
So, since (if) He was speaking the Truth (and He always did!), then living water is available to you and me still today.
Know the gift of God, recognize Jesus as The Lord, and ask Him… and He will give you Living Water!
Father, this is our proclamation and prayer today. Please give us Your Living Water, which provides us with Eternal Life! Or, if You have already given it to us, make us aware of Your Living Water, already within us!
