Today’s Encouragement is, “The officer assisting the king said to the man of God, ‘That couldn’t happen even if the LORD opened the windows of heaven!’” 2 Kings 7:2 NLT
That Couldn’t Happen –
The amazing record of God’s deliverance of His people can encourage us during dark times. From 2 Kings 6:24-7:20, we can see clearly and understand that God delivered His people from a completely hopeless situation! There are many such examples.
Before you “qualify” this or any other biblical miracle with, “Well, they were very righteous, deserving people,” read the passage. You can try to dismiss His deliverance with, “That was centuries ago, God doesn’t do that anymore,” but my friend, His miracles happen every day! Each of us whom He has saved from our old life, addictions, troubles, and trials… we are each His miracles!
In this account, the officer assisting the king scoffed at Elisha’s prophecy of deliverance with these same kind of dismissive and unbelieving words… and he suffered death for his disdainful arrogance! (2 Kings 7:20)
Notice this doubter, who mocked God’s Truth, saw the miracle occur, but didn’t get to experience and enjoy it. His doubt and hardened heart prevented him from receiving the blessing that God provided.
Father, please help us believe in Your unlimited power! Open our eyes and hearts to Your miracles in our day, in our lives. Help us to trust You, rely on Your deliverance and so see Your miraculous blessings today!
