Today’s Encouragement is, “Today when you hear his voice, don’t harden your hearts as Israel did when they rebelled.” Hebrews 3:15b NLT
Hear His Voice –
Many (most) believe that anyone who claims to hear God’s voice is insane. It was true even in Jesus’ day. Even the most respected scholars are skeptical of someone actually “hearing from God!” And undoubtedly, many people who ‘hear voices’ have mental health issues; movies portray and thrive on such dramatic and tragic situations.
But my friend, we who trust in Him are His own dearly loved children. He wants us to know His Truth, His Love, and His Way. He cares more deeply about you and me than we can imagine. His Love for us has no limits!
As human parents, we greatly desire that above all things, “our children would listen to us.” Isn’t it possible that God desires the same for His people?
Now, God speaks to us in many ways. Remember, He is infinitely creative! Through His Word, of course, through other people, and through the Holy Spirit, which lives within each of us. But always, His voice aligns with His Word! He does not contradict Himself, ever.
So, we study His Word and in doing so, we begin to understand His nature, His Character, and His immeasurable Love for each of His precious children, His people.
Father God, we confess that the idea of hearing Your voice is intimidating and frightening; yet we long to grow closer in our relationship with You. So Today, we pray, speak to us. Please help us to hear, in faith and trust. We ask in Jesus’ Name.
