Come To Me

Today’s Encouragement is, [Jesus said,] “Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28

Come To Me –

Notice that there is an implicit ‘If/Then’ in Jesus’ statement; there often is.  If – we come, then – He will give rest.

We are invited to ‘come to Him’.  We can come at any time, including when we are tired and worn down, exhausted, burned out, bored, sorrowful, joyful, or ecstatic… anytime.  He promises the beautiful Rest!  He is the Prince of Peace; in His presence is perfect peace!

Too often we seek peace and rest in destructive, negative, and ultimately futile ways… from drugs, alcohol, TV, social media, food, sex, shopping, or any number of other coping methods; we are all seeking the Rest and Peace that can only come from Him!

How can we come to Him? Through prayer. By pouring out our hearts in honest communication and confession, and concluding with faith, He respects earnest, sincere prayer. Worship music, such as today’s song, can also help to focus our minds on Him.

Lord Jesus, help us to come to You, just as we are. Before or after we’ve tried other roads to rest, help us to seek and to find our most genuine peace, our perfect rest in You.
