Meeting Together

Today’s Encouragement is, “And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near.” Hebrews 10:25 (NLT)

Meeting Together –

We often think we go to church to hear from God, to hear His Truth, to worship Him, and of course, all these are true.  And then we quickly say, “Yeah, but I can do all of that at home, or on the lake, or the golf course, or walking in the woods, or…” And, of course, that is also true.

However, there is one thing we achieve by gathering that only meeting together can accomplish. Encouraging each other.  We cannot encourage each other, and we cannot love each other alone.

“So now I am giving you a new commandment: Love each other. Just as I have loved you, you should love each other.” (John 13:34)

Is it possible that – we love others best when we worship with them?

Being together, meeting with each other and God, singing, praying, studying God’s word – together.  We are not alone, not isolated units, we are a family, the body of Christ (1 Cor 12:27), and only together do we experience what God has created us to be…One!  “That they may be one as You and I are one” (John 17:21).

We are encouraged not to neglect this; it is easy to neglect meeting together. Church is often ‘messy,’ people aren’t all sweet and loving and kind, and the church is far from perfect. And yet, it is still the Body of Christ!  And you and I are parts of that Body!

Father God, help us to love each other.
