Loved Him More

Today’s Encouragement is, Then Jesus told him this story: “A man loaned money to two people-500 pieces of silver to one and 50 pieces to the other. But neither of them could repay him, so he kindly forgave them both, canceling their debts. Who do you suppose loved him more after that?” Simon answered, “I suppose the one for whom he canceled the larger debt.” “That’s right,” Jesus said. Luke 7:41-43 NLT

Loved Him More –

The analogy was painfully clear.  The sinful woman (vs 37-39) had been forgiven her much greater ‘debt’ than the self-righteous religious leader (seemingly), and she demonstrated her great gratitude and love overtly, extravagantly!

Please don’t miss this point.  We all owe this larger debt! We are all sinful (Romans 3:23), and none of us can pay the debt we owe! The grateful, loving woman recognized her sin, but the religious leader could not see that his sin, his need, and his debt were just as great as hers.

When we acknowledge our sinful nature and the depths of our depravity, and also recognize God’s forgiveness and love, we love Him more.

It’s as if we have a deep hole in our hearts, the greater our recognized sin, the deeper the hole, infinitely deep… and when we ask, He forgives; He fills that deep, dark void with His infinite Grace and Love.   And we then, filled by His Love, love Him and others, from His infinite supply.  We love Him more.

Thank You, Father God, for igniting this love for You within our hearts! You are Love. Open our eyes to see the depths of our need for Your perfect and healing love.

Thank You Jesus For The Blood
