Today’s Encouragement is, “You were dead because of your sins and because your sinful nature was not yet cut away. Then God made you alive with Christ, for he forgave all our sins. He canceled the record of the charges against us and took it away by nailing it to the cross.” Colossians 2:13-14 NLT
God Made You Alive –
“You were dead!” Sin held us captive. We weren’t “good people who sometimes did bad things.” We were slaves to Sin, held in a death grip, unable to free ourselves.
But God! God made us alive with Christ, and all our sins were forgiven! When Jesus emerged, resurrected, from the earthly grave, we also spiritually arose with Him, from death to life! He bought our freedom and bought us a new life!
Our record of sin was taken away and nailed to the cross. We were buried with Christ through baptism, then raised to new life! (v12)
We didn’t do any of this! Jesus did 2000 years ago! It is finished, complete, and done. Perfectly accomplished for us, not by us!
God has – already – made us alive – with Christ. Reborn, forgiven, set free, all charges against us (legitimate charges!) have been cancelled, erased, and even forgotten! (Hebrews 8:12)
We Are Free!!!
Our Father, how can we ever thank You enough for the incredible, undeserved blessing that You have given us? Help us to recognize the enormous gift that You have provided us! Help us be appropriately grateful! We ask in Jesus’ Name.
