Perhaps The Lord Will

Today’s Encouragement is, “And perhaps the LORD will see that I am being wronged and will bless me because of these curses today.” 2 Samuel 16:12 NLT

Perhaps The Lord Will –

King David was fleeing from His Kingdom. His son, Absolom, had usurped the throne, and he left in sorrow and grief.  Shimei cursed him, heaping shame on David.

He had a large number of his warriors with him. There was no need to let this bitter man rage against him with false accusations.  David’s men were ready to kill him. However, David’s response revealed a profound insight into his character and faith.

“Perhaps the Lord will” – turn these undeserved curses into a blessing.  This is Faith!  This is a godly perspective.  There is no pride to be defended, no interest in self-protection, no anger for being cursed, even in this time of his great humiliation.

David, in godly hope, trust, and faith, still saw a pathway to God’s mercy and blessing.

My friend, in the depths of our defeat, depression, illness, sorrow, or grief, there is still and always a light of faith, a pathway of God’s blessing.  We are always given a choice.

“And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.” Romans 8:28 NLT

Even a ranting and raving curse? Working for our good? How could that be possible?

“Perhaps the Lord will.”

Thank You, Father, that in faith we can trust that You can turn even the worst situation into a blessing.   Help us choose to trust Your loving and wise Father-heart for us, especially in our most trying and troubled times.
