In My Name –
Friend, this is not some ‘magic formula’ or a genie in a bottle. But recognize – Jesus said this!
Do we believe that He is who He says He is and that He will do what He says He will do? (Heb. 10:23)
Sometimes (very often) it just doesn’t happen soon enough for us. We’re so impatient! So, we begin to doubt… and when we doubt, we don’t receive! (Jas. 1:6-7)
Jesus acts in His own Name is His authority, His strength – not ours; His bank account – not mine, His reputation – not mine. His is the Name above all names! This is why many of us end our every prayer with, “We ask this in Jesus’ Name.”
Just like He told us to!
This idea of ‘in His name’ is similar to a power of Attorney. The use of His Name must be in full respect of His reputation, His character. It must be respected, not used in vain, for our silly, selfish wants and desires, but for those things which bring Him glory!
Lord God, give us faith to trust fully, and accept completely, the Truth You have given us in Christ! Give us both patience and strength as we wait for You to act. Help us to respect the Name of Jesus, and to ask for our needs in His Name, in sincere Faith.
