Today’s Encouragement is, “David was now in great danger because all his men were very bitter about losing their sons and daughters, and they began to talk of stoning him. But David found strength in the LORD his God.” 1 Samuel 30:6 NLT
Found Strength –
David had led his men effectively, and they were all avoiding and rebelling against King Saul, and they lived in Ziklag. While they were away, an enemy army had ransacked Ziklag and captured their wives and children. When David and his men returned home, they found the town destroyed and empty, and were devastated (v4). They turned their anger toward David and talked about killing him! (A great bunch of guys, huh?)
What was David to do? Run, Hide? Plead? Argue? Had God abandoned him, why did this terrible thing happen to him and his people?
He chose to turn to God in faith. Despite his despair and doubts, the threats of his closest friends, and his grief…
“But, David found strength in the Lord His God.”
He then asked the Lord what to do (v8) and obeyed.
Please don’t miss this. Everything and everyone was against him. He could have easily decided to give up, run, or any number of options… but instead, he chose to find Strength in God.
And he asked –
As Jesus taught us, “Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for.” Matthew 7:7a
Father God, help us, your sheep, your adopted children, whatever our struggles today may be, to Find Strength in You and ask, and keep on asking, for Your help, Your Guidance, and Your way. We choose to trust You.
