The Will of My Father

Today’s Encouragement is, “Anyone who does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother!” Matthew 12:50 NLT

The Will of My Father –

Now, that’s a tall order!  To do God’s Will!  How can anyone possibly achieve that?  We can’t even do our own will very well!  How could a person possibly do God’s will?

First, we would need to know what God’s will is —what does God require of us?

“Jesus replied, ’You must love the LORD your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.’  This is the first and greatest commandment. A second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’” Matthew 22:37-39

Once again, we circle back to the central Truth of God’s Nature, His character, His essence.  God IS LOVE (1 John 4:8)

And God’s Will is that we love Him and love others.

Love keeps no record of wrongs,

Love always forgives,

Love endures,

Love never fails. (1 Corinthians 13:4-7)

We do not, cannot love God or each other (or ourselves) perfectly; no one can.  But – the Grace of God, manifested through Jesus Christ, completes us, makes up for every failure, every sin, even our missed opportunities for expressing the Love of God. (see Romans 5:1)

Father, how can we express our gratitude for all that You have done for us?  Please help us to accept Your Perfect Love, and to live in Your Will, loving You and others.  We pray in Jesus’ Name.

The Love of God
