Today’s Encouragement is, “Jesus knew immediately what they were thinking, so he asked them, ‘Why do you question this in your hearts?’” Mark 2:8 NLT
Knew Immediately –
The religious leaders questioned each other about Jesus’ declaration to the paralyzed man, “Your sins are forgiven” (v 5). Jesus knew, He didn’t guess; He knew and told them exactly what they were thinking. Then He turned and healed the lame man.
Sin forgiven, minds read, and miraculous healing… and they still did not believe!
We often (well, I do) think, “God, my faith would be much stronger if I could have lived when Jesus walked the earth. I could’ve seen His miracles, heard Him speak, and followed Him and the disciples.” Or “God, let me see Your miracle power today, so my faith will be stronger, so I can see Your power at work!”
But God doesn’t work the way we think… His ways and thoughts are immeasurably greater than ours (Isaiah 55:8-9). There were hundreds, if not thousands, of people who were around when Jesus walked, taught, and healed 2,000 years ago. They heard His voice and witnessed His miraculous power, yet only a handful believed. The religious leaders also saw many miraculous healings, and yet instead of recognizing and worshipping Him, they decided He must be eradicated!
And my friend, even this – Jesus knew immediately!
Father, we thank You for the wonderful gift of Faith. That even when our eyes don’t see the power of Jesus, we can still believe in Him. We can read Your words, and, with eyes of Faith, we can ‘see’ Your hand at work still today. Increase our Faith, Lord.
