Take Refuge

Today’s Encouragement is “May the LORD, the God of Israel, under whose wings you have come to take refuge, reward you fully for what you have done.” Ruth 2:12 NLT

Take Refuge-

The story of Ruth is so very beautiful.  Read it and be blessed!  In this passage, Boaz, the owner of the barley field where she has come to gather the leftovers from the harvest, meets her and blesses her. He does this because he has heard about her kindness and loyalty to her mother-in-law, Naomi.

The book of Ruth is a type of the story of Jesus’ redemption. A type is a person or thing in the Old Testament that foreshadows (an indication beforehand) a person or thing in the New Testament. In this type, Boaz represents Jesus, the Redeemer, Deliverer, Protector, and Husband.  Ruth represents you and me.

Ruth, a foreigner and a widow, sought refuge, help, and provision for herself and Naomi by coming to this particular area of the harvest… and God guided her there, to the one place where she would find all that she needed!

My friends, this is how God guides us, very often unknowingly, to the place of His refuge. Because He is Love (1 John 4:16) – He brings us to the best place, and there He provides all that we need.  He is that Good!

Father God, please help us to always come to You, to find refuge and everything we need, under Your wings, and to remain there with You!
