Today’s Encouragement is, “For by that one offering he [Jesus] forever made perfect those who are being made holy.” Hebrews 10:14 NLT
Forever Made Perfect –
We may not feel, see, or dare to believe it… But our Bible says it!
We are… Forever… made (already, now) Perfect… by the one offering (Jesus’ sacrifice)
And… we are… (in process) being made Holy!
Do we dare to believe this?
Too quickly, we brush off such eternal truths with our human and false humility: ” Of course, no one is perfect!” or “That may be true for really good people, but not for me! No Way!”
But we must not deny the clear truths of God’s Word!
First, we are forever perfect in God’s sight (and who else matters?). Because we are clothed with Christ, He covers us, His blood has bought our cleansing and eternal forgiveness! And that is an eternal (forever) accomplishment! He said, “It is Finished!” (John 19:30)
Second, we are being made holy. This is in the present tense; we are a work in progress! “Let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think.” Romans 12:2b NLT. We are God’s handiwork, His creations, and He is making us holy, set apart for God, distinct, dedicated, and devoted to Him.
He has done it, made us perfect, and is still doing it, making us holy.
Our Father, we confess it is often difficult to accept Your truth. We see ourselves through human eyes, flawed, flailing, even futile. That You see us as perfect, and progressing towards holiness, is too wonderful to readily accept. Help us believe this and all Your Truth by faith in Jesus, our Savior.
