Today’s Encouragement is, “Her sister, Mary, sat at the Lord’s feet, listening to what he taught.” Luke 10:39 NLT
At The Lord’s Feet –
Many times, the phrase “at His feet” is used in the Bible.
A few examples:
The woman kissed his feet (Luke 7:38)
They laid the sick at His feet (Matthew 15:30)
I fell at His feet as though dead (Revelation 1:17)
Is it only a common expression, a figure of speech, or could it be an important symbol, a message to us?
Is it possible that because of His holiness, the only appropriate connection we can make with His majestic presence is the least noble portion of His body?
Certainly, people bowed at the feet of their kings and rulers long before and after Jesus walked this earth. This gesture honors, places another high above yourself, and demonstrates true worship. And kissing the feet of another is a poignant expression of worship practiced by many religions and cultures.
It is totally appropriate for us to sit at His feet, to fall down in worship, and collapse there as though dead because – He is that Holy! He is God and our Lord and Savior!
And this majestic Being, at whose feet we bow, reaches down to us, raises us up from His feet, and says, “You are my friends!” (John 15:15)
Father, help us appropriately honor the divinity, holiness, and majesty of Your Son Jesus by worshipping at His feet. Help us also recognize the incredible privilege He has given us to call us His friends!
I’ll worship only at the feet of Jesus
