O My Strength

Today’s Encouragement is, “But as for me, I will sing about your power. Each morning I will sing with joy about your unfailing love. For you have been my refuge, a place of safety when I am in distress. O my Strength, to you I sing praises, for you, O God, are my refuge, the God who shows me unfailing love.” Psalm 59:16-17 NLT

O My Strength –

David praised God for His power, Love, and protection. And notice the next verse, “O my Strength!”

David was a powerful, strong, and wise man, a great military leader, warrior, and king!  Yet in all his own human strength, He still acknowledged God as his strength!  Note that he wasn’t referring to God as merely the source of his physical power, but rather that God Himself was his strength, a subtle distinction.  Of course, we believe God gives us strength; we pray, ask for it, and receive it. However, when God is our strength, our own abilities to cope, overcome, and fight the many battles we face are unimportant!  Because He Himself – is our strength!

Regardless of our physical abilities, weak or strong, ill or healthy, poor or rich, old or young… God Himself is our strength!  He is the Truth that enables us to be strong in spirit, hopeful, faithful, and grateful regardless of physical or emotional condition.

Our strength is God, regardless of the physical reality.

Father, You truly are all we need! You provide for us perfectly! Help us each morning to remember that we can rest in whatever You provide and rely on Your perfect strength, refuge, and love, O our Strength!

You Are My Strength
