Today’s Encouragement is, “Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing.” John 15:5 NLT
Remain In Me –
Jesus told us that He is the vine and that we are branches of His vine. Only by our contact with Him, through our vital connection with Him, and by recognizing our relationship with Him, do we ever ‘bear fruit’ or have any real success – have any lasting value. The analogy goes on to be even more critical because without the Vine, our life-giving connection to Him, we can do nothing.
“Apart from me you can do nothing.”
But we will bear much fruit by remaining IN Him, attached to His Vine.
Notice also that the branches must choose to remain in the vine; they don’t need to Do much else except to ‘remain.’ In this Truth, we find rest, peace, and abiding, all passive comfort from being with and in Him. We draw all our nutrition, food, and every necessary provision from Him; we are Attached when we choose to Remain, to Abide.
Lord, draw us nearer and make us more aware of our life-giving and life-sustaining relationship with You. So that we have value and can bear the fruit of Your love for this lost and dying world.
Abide
