Today’s Encouragement is, “For you died to this life, and your real life is hidden with Christ in God.” Colossians 3:3 NLT
Your Real Life –
Being reborn is a central tenet of Christianity (John 3:3). We die to ourselves, to this world, and to sin—and then are reborn to live ‘in Christ’! (Baptism is the symbol of this death and rebirth.)
This occurs when we accept Jesus as the Lord, leader, head, and God of our lives by believing in Him… This is the beginning of our new, Real Life… dead to our old ways, but alive in Him (Romans 6:11).
The old ways of “this life” may like to hang around, but they no longer control us! They may taunt us, plead with us, and tempt us, but this is deadness; death controls these old ways. Verse 5 says,” Put to death” these old ways. And “Put on” (v12) the new, Real Life, the characteristics of kindness, patience, forgiveness, and above all these (v14) put on Love!
My friend, this beautiful rebirth process continues throughout our relationship with God, perhaps just as dramatically as our initial conversion. Just as a plant goes through seasons of growth, our new, Real Life is marked by seasons of discovery, trials, growth, and renewal, always leading upwards to Christ.
Finally, in this Real Life we are “Hidden With Christ in God.” Hidden, with Jesus, in God!
And nothing can ever separate us from the Love of God in Christ! (Romans 8:39)
Thank You, Father God, for the privilege of being Yours, dead to this life and alive to Real Life in Christ! Help us to live in Your Truth and to hide ourselves in You.
