I Have Revealed You –
Jesus is praying and speaking to His Father while His disciples listen intently. He explains that he has revealed God the Father to the “ones You gave me,” that is, all the believers.
Do you recall Jesus’ specific teachings about Himself and God? How about, “I and the Father are one.” (John 10:30) “If you have seen Me, you have seen the Father.” (John 14:9)
We sometimes mistakenly see God the Father as an angry tyrant, a cartoon character sitting on a throne in the clouds, scowling, watching to catch us in sin, throwing lightning bolts at us ‘to teach us a lesson’… No, my friend! Jesus came to reveal God to us (today’s verse), to introduce us to God’s true nature, His heart, His characteristics, His thoughts, and most especially, to reveal to us – God’s Immeasurable Love.
Consider the people who came to Jesus. There were all types, but especially the leper, the sick, a prostitute, a tax collector, a dying thief, a poor widow, a grieving mother, and to each of these ordinary people like you and me – He revealed God!
And He still does today… He still reveals God to us.
We can confidently know what God is like; He has already been revealed to us through Jesus.
Thank You Father, that You have been perfectly revealed through Jesus.
