Tell God What You Need

Today’s Encouragement continues, “Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7 NLT

Tell God what you need –

What? Does God need me to tell Him what I need? Well, no, He doesn’t… but we need to! We need to express our desires and needs to God. We pause and ask ourselves, “Is this wise? Is this a good thing to pray? Am I being petty or selfish? Am I praying for others, for His will, or is it always about me?”

We have just been invited to pray about everything; now, we are invited to pour out our needs, not just a Christmas wish list of selfish wants, but our needs.

As you do, consider Jesus’ fervent, agonizing prayer in the Garden the night he would be arrested. He prayed, “Father, if you are willing, remove this cup from me. Nevertheless, not my will, but yours, be done.” (Luke 22:42)

The perfect end to every prayer. “Your will be done!” Yet, we are free to pour out our every need to Our Loving Father! So freely ask, and then surrender your request to God’s “good, pleasing and perfect will.”(Romans 12:2).

Father, Thank You for allowing us to bring our every need to You. Thank You for the comforting truth that Your will is always for our good! We are amazed at Your love and kindness. Help us to take our needs to You in prayer.

Don’t Stop Praying
